Glycerin har den kemiske formel C3H8O3. Det er en tyktflydende, farvel\u00f8s, lugtfri v\u00e6ske, der er blandbar med vand og absorberer fugt. Der er ogs\u00e5 gasser som hydrogensulfid og svovldioxid, som er meget brugt i en r\u00e6kke forskellige industrier. Det er almindeligt kendt som glycerin og glycerol, som begge har samme formel, men forskellig renhed. Glycerol er 95%-glycerin, hvilket direkte betyder, at glycerin er i sin reneste form. De to kan kun bruges i stedet for hinanden, n\u00e5r renhed ikke er et problem.<\/p>\n
